Bringing together different perspectives to develop practical tools for the circular transition of the European furniture industry!

On 9 October 2026, the FurnSERVICE project brought together 20 experts from different professional backgrounds – including economists, engineers, creative professionals, business model specialists, environmental sustainability experts and trainers – for a dedicated Expert Validation Workshop.

Moderated by AMBIT, the workshop represented an important milestone in the development of the FurnSERVICE Circular Business Models Self-Assessment Tool, currently being prepared by the project partners.

The experts were invited to contribute their knowledge and experience to review and validate the questions that will form the basis of the tool, ensuring their clarity, relevance and practical applicability to furniture companies.

The tool is designed to help companies assess their maturity across five circular business models: Circular Supply, Resource Recovery, Product Use Extension, Sharing Platforms and Product-as-a-Service. Based on the assessment results, companies will be able to identify strengths, improvement opportunities and potential actions towards more circular and service-oriented business models.

The workshop also provided an opportunity to share the project's latest findings and introduce the preliminary FurnSERVICE Handbook for Deploying Circular Business Models.

Why does this multidisciplinary approach matter? Because the circular transition requires more than technical solutions: it calls for new business strategies, environmental awareness, creativity, skills and a deep understanding of companies' real needs.

The experts' contributions will help the FurnSERVICE partners refine the Self-Assessment Tool, making it more accessible, effective and relevant to the European furniture industry.
